Details of the Initiative

On November 27, in the lecture presented through live streaming, the first part was given by Professor Shigeru Tamura, School of Interdisciplinary Mathematical Sciences, Meiji University and Professor Masahide Hojo, School of Science and Technology, Tokushima University, and in the second part, a panel discussion on the content of this lecture was held having invited the Manager of the Tokushima Prefecture Green Society Promotion Section and the General Manager of the Awa Bank.

In the first part of the lecture by Professor Tamura, he introduced the mechanism of global warming and the efforts of the world and Japan to reduce carbon dioxide in an easy-to-understand manner, focusing on renewable energy. In the lecture by Professor Hojo, he explained the mechanism of the electric power system connecting energy sources and the features of electric energy and its application to society.

In the second part of the lecture, after introducing the efforts toward realizing decarbonization and a case example of financing renewable energy in Tokushima prefecture, panelists discussed issues that society and individuals should address in order to preserve a rich environment for the next generation such as the adjustment of supply and demand for natural energy, consideration for the natural environment by companies and individuals, and technological development and education from various perspectives. It ended with a lively discussion.

In a questionnaire of the participants, some commented that it had been very helpful to hear about renewable energy from the global scale to Japan and the Tokushima region from various viewpoints. This collaboration course led to the promotion of Tokushima Prefecture.
